Edisto Beach is a serene beach located in St. Helena Sound, South Carolina. It is a 45-mile drive from Charleston and is known for its low-level beach houses and 4.5 miles of uncrowded pristine beach. It's a great destination for families, friends or couples to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Edisto is a unique place for beach activities like sunbathing, fishing, and playing in the ocean, as well as for hunting for fossils and shark teeth. There are plenty of golfing opportunities and other activities on the island, including hiking, visiting historic sites, and trying the local seafood.
Edisto Beach is a great place for fossil hunting and spotting wildlife. Rare fossils such as horse teeth, skate jaws, and ocean creature bones have been found along the waterline. Loggerhead turtles also come to the beach to lay their eggs in the spring and summer. It's important to take care not to disturb the nests or turn on lights on the beach side to protect the turtles. Edisto Island-The island has a rich history, dating back to the original Edisto Indians and the first European settlers in 1674.
